On 1st March 2017 we launched our fortnightly programme of support for people aged 50+ and looking for work.
Chris Walsh, our Chief Executive, said,
The first meeting and training session was a great success. One of the many problems that older out of work people face is increased loneliness and a sense of isolation after years of work. Part of the reason for this project is to help people to overcome this in a warm and welcoming environment and to encourage them to get together, to find opportunities for work, to start their own enterprise or to start off by volunteering.
The regular fortnightly support and training sessions continue on alternate Wednesdays at Chats Palace, 42-44 Brooksby's Walk, London E9 6DF, starting at 11 am. Please see the calendar on the right for dates of forthcoming sessions.
All Hackney residents aged 50+ are welcome to attend.
Anyone interested can go along on the day or for more details contact Dave on:

Wise Age, in partnership with Trust for London, provides training for staff and volunteers from organisations that have the potential to develop, extend or enhance employment support for over-50s through ROPES - the Resourcing Older People’s Employment Support project. ROPES is a 2-year ‘train the trainers’ initiative which aims to increase the availability of quality, empathetic employment support for over-50s.
We offer this training and support to organisations based or working in Barking and Dagenham, Camden, City of London, Enfield, Greenwich, Hackney, Havering, Haringey, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Lambeth, Lewisham, Newham, Redbridge, Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, Wandsworth, Westminster.
Organisations joining the ROPES project receive 3 days training, access to a comprehensive online Resource Toolkit, a newsletter, quarterly training events and one-to-one consultancy support.
Over 50 London-based organisations have completed the training and joined the Age and Employment Experts Network (AEEN)

The course consists of three modules, which take place one day per week over three weeks. The days typically start at 10:00 and end at 16:00.
This three-day course is ideal for your staff and/or volunteers who deal with workless 50+ clients. We offer practical training from our experts in the field of employment support to this age cohort, as well as a range of other topics, including: best practice in relation to the situation of older workers, the benefits they offer employers, tips on how to recruit, inspire and support over 50s into employment or self-employment. We aim to make the training as interactive as possible to ensure participants derive maximum benefit from the course and take their new expertise and enthusiasm back into the workplace.
At the end of the training you will be given access to our web based Members’ Online Resource Manual of useful information relating to employability skills, job search and best practice in working with over-50s and a comprehensive Policy Toolkit of relevant research and policy relating to Age & Employment. Individual training participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance and organisations will be registered as members of the Wise Age ‘London Age and Employment Experts Network’ which will offer regular training workshops, updates and briefings. Members will also be able to call on Wise Age expertise throughout the
programme to address any delivery issues.
As well as helping you offer the best quality advice and support to the large and growing number of over-50s looking for work or considering self-employment the specialist knowledge and skills your organisation will acquire through our training should also help you in future funding bids either as individual organisations or as part of a network of age and employment expert providers.
Is the training really free?
Yes, the training is funded by Trust for London so there is no cost to you or your organisation, as long as your organisation is based in/operates in one of the 19 boroughs listed: Barking and Dagenham, Camden, City of London, Enfield, Greenwich, Hackney, Havering, Haringey, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Lambeth, Lewisham, Newham, Redbridge, Southwark, Tower Hamlets, WalthamForest, Wandsworth, Westminster.
Do I have to attend all three days?

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
