The problem for older working age people - as Wise Age has been campaigning around for years - is that you cannot just increase the state pension age and force people to work longer unless there are jobs for them to do.
At present only around half of people in their last year of work are actually in employment. Each year of age over the age of 50 makes it harder for people to overcome ageism amongst employers, the media and government and find a job.
